The Philadelphia Phillies avoided arbitration and agreed to one-year contracts with pitchers Brad Lidge and Ryan Madson Thursday.
The 31-year-old Lidge will earn $6.35 million in 2008, while Madson will pocket $1.4 million. Both pitchers also have performance bonuses in their contracts.
Lidge was acquired from the Houston this past November after going 5-3 with 19 saves and a 3.36 earned run average in 66 games with the Astros last season.
Madson, 27, went 2-2 with one save and a 3.05 ERA in 38 games for the Phillies last year. His season was cut short, however, due to two separate stints on the disabled list.
Utilityman Eric Bruntlett and first baseman Ryan Howard are the only remaining Phillies arbitration-eligible players.
