Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf, Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Johan Holmqvist and Philadelphia Flyers left wing Scott Hartnell were named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending January 20.
Getzlaf recorded two goals and six assists, and registered a plus-three during a week which saw the Ducks win three of their four games. His high point came with a three-assist performance in a 4-2 Anaheim win over the Minnesota Wild on January 18. With a goal in a 5-2 loss at Dallas on Sunday, Getzlaf extended his point streak to 14 straight games. In addition, his plus-25 rating is fourth-best in the NHL.
Holmqvist notched second star honors by posting back-to-back shutouts over Pittsburgh and Ottawa on Friday and Saturday, stopping all 52 shots he faced. The Swedish netminder lowered his goals-against average to 2.89
Hartnell earned third star for the second consecutive week, notching five goals and one assist in three games. Following a hat trick last week, Hartnell recorded another trifecta in a 5-3 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday -- his third career three-goal game and second in six contests. He added another goal in a 6-1 romp over Ottawa on Sunday.
