The bullpen was going to be a problem. This was no secret heading into the 2007 season, everybody knew it.
But remember how confident the city was when the masses saw the Phillies projected starting rotation on paper. Starting with fire-baller Brett Myers, moving onto young-gun Cole Hamels, mixing in true-ace Freddy Garcia, and rounding out with veteran professional Jamie Moyer and the capable Adam Eaton, the Phillies had a rotation that rivaled any in the majors.
They even had an ace in the hole, so to speak, in last year's Opening Day starter Jon Lieber, who was expected to be traded for the bullpen help he himself couldn't provide as the odd-man out.
Seems like a long time ago.
