The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have signed four-year NFL veteran Sam Rayburn as a free agent. Terms of the contract were not announced by the team.
Rayburn (6-3, 303) previously played with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2003-06 after joining the team as a rookie free agent out of Tulsa in 2003. He was waived by the Eagles on May 11 of this year. Rayburn has played in 53 career games with four starts and has accumulated 65 total tackles and nine sacks.
His best season was in 2004 during the Eagles run to the Super Bowl when he played in all 16 games. Rayburn finished that season with two starts and had 46 total tackles and six sacks.
