Flyers retain Manning with 1-year extension

Brandon Manning apparently will be a member of the Philadelphia Flyers starting next season.

On Friday, the parent club signed the offensive-minded blueliner and restricted free agent to a one-year contract extension at the NHL level. Multiple beats say the deal is worth $625,000.

The 24-year-old native of British Columbia ranked third on Lehigh Valley with 43 points in 58 games, while leading all Phantoms defensemen in goals (11), assists (32) and points. He's added three assists in 10 appearances for the Flyers this year.

A two-time All-Star at the AHL level (2013, 2015), Manning has accumulated 114 points in the AHL over parts of four seasons and five assists in 20 games with Philadelphia.
