Union's Daniel called up by Trinidad & Tobago

Chester, Pa. – Philadelphia Union midfielder Keon Daniel has been called up to the Trinidad & Tobago National Team for two friendly matches in March against the national teams of Belize and Peru.

Daniel and his team will take on Belize March 22 in Trinidad and Tobago before traveling to Peru to take on the Peruvian national squad March 26.

The 26-year-old midfielder will depart for international duty March 18 – two days after the Union’s home match versus New England Revolution – and return March 27. He will miss the club’s international friendly against Club Universidad Nacional, A.C. (Pumas).

Daniel has made 52 appearances and scored 13 goals for Trinidad and Tobago since making his debut in 2007.  In the opening round of the Caribbean Cup last October, he netted a first half hat trick in T&T’s 10-0 trouncing of Anguilla and a goal in their 4-1 win over French Guyana.  He also played 82 minutes in a 1-0 win against St. Kitts and Nevis.

Daniel’s call up comes after two consecutive starts for the Union, with the midfielder providing an assist during the 2013 season-opening game against Sporting KC on March 2.
