Moore named A-10 and Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA  – Temple University senior guard Ramone Moore was named the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Philadelphia Big 5 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 13.  It is second straight week that Moore, who shares the A10 honor with St. Bonaventure’s Andrew Nicholson, earns A10 Player of the Week and the third time this season.  It is also his third Big 5 Player of the Week honor.

The 6-4 Philadelphia native (Southern HS) averaged 27.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists in two Temple wins last week.   On February 8 in a 79-72 win over George Washington he scored a game-high 25 points, including a huge three-pointer to give Temple the lead for good, 71-69.  He followed that with his second 30-point game of season and third of his career in an 85-72 win over Xavier on Saturday.  In that game he made 9-of-16 from field and 5-of-8 from three-point range for a game high 30 points.

Moore, who has been the game’s high scorer in six straight Temple wins, shot 15-30 from the field (50%) and 8-14 from 3-point range (.571).  He currently leads the A10 in scoring (18.8 ppg.) and has tallied double figures in a league-best 17 straight games.  He has also led the Owls in scoring a team-high 12 times.

Temple (19-5, 8-2), in sole possession of first place in the A10, takes its season-high eight-game win streak on the road for a Wednesday game at St. Bonaventure (8:00 p.m./CBS Sports Network/1210 AM WPHT).
