The Samuel Morin question has been answered.
In spite of social media speculation that the hulking 19-year-old might have survived the last of the Flyers' roster cuts, the young defenseman was returned to his junior club on Friday -- Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Morin would have been able to have a 10-game audition in the NHL before the Flyers were required to either keep him on the roster or send him back to Quebec, but the wiser head of GM Ron Hextall, who has decided to tread lightly with the future of the blueline, has prevailed.
In addition, forwards Chris VandeVelde, Jay Rosehill and goaltender Rob Zepp were placed on waivers with the intention of their inclusion on the Phantoms' roster. It would be a surprise even if VandeVelde, a North Dakota product, would garner interest by noon on Saturday.
The Philadelphia Flyers roster now stands at 22 players as they hit the quietude of Cape Cod for a weekend of team bonding.
