ATLANTIC CITY - Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested in Atlantic City over the weekend following an alleged altercation with his fiancee at the Revel Resort.
A statement from police says officers were called to the Revel early Saturday morning after a domestic dispute involving Rice and Janay Palmer broke out, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Both were charged with simple assault-domestic violence and were released on a summons to appear in court.
The Ravens released a statement regarding the situation Sunday night:
"We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancee. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained."
Rice, 27, is coming off his worst season, rushing for 660 yards on a career- low 3.1 yards per carry. He signed a five-year, $35 million deal to stay in Baltimore prior to the 2012 season.
