PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soul announced that free-agent Philadelphia Eagle wide receiver, Jeremy Maclin will attend as a guest at the team’s open tryouts on Saturday.
On the day of the tryout, registration will begin at 8 a.m., with stretching starting promptly at 9 a.m. at the NovaCare Complex, home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.
Pre-registration can be done by logging onto www.philadelphiasoul.com. The cost of the tryout is $60 for those who pre-register and $80 at the door by cash, money order or certified funds only. Kickers will be evaluated and are asked to come starting at 11 a.m. for this tryout.
“We were impressed with the turnout at the last tryout and believe that there are quality players that we can fill our remaining spots before training camp opens on Feb. 20,” said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. “Our goal is to put together the best roster with high-character people who are good football players.”
The Soul found Rookie of the Year finalist, Ryan McDaniel, at last year’s open tryout. McDaniel earned the starting job a few weeks into the season and finished with 65 receptions for 819 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had an impressive 13 catches for 137 yards and two touchdown performance in this past season’s ArenaBowl.
Dolezel, along with Soul general manager Tom Goodhines, assistant head coach Phil Bogle and scouting staff will conduct the workouts.
Players will be tested on their 40-yard time, broad jump and short shuttle, with other position-specific drills and one-on-ones to follow.
