Taylor Leier, a 2012 draft pick, was signed to an entry-level contract on Monday.
The 19-year-old winger finished the 2012-13 season with 27 goals and 62 points in 64 games with the Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League, and totaled 16 points in 21 playoff games for the WHL champs and Memorial Cup participants.
In 136 career games over the last two years in Portland, Leier has compiled 40 goals and 59
assists. A native of Saskatoon, Leier
was selected by the Flyers in the fourth round two Junes ago.
Leier will be a slide contract for the club, which has 49 NHL-level deals at current.
If the Flyers had not signed him by the end of the season, league rules dictate Leier would have gone back into the 2014 draft.
