The Flyers have agreed to contract terms with 6-foot-5, 225-lb free agent defenseman Kurtis Foster, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Foster, 31, is entering his 11th professional season. He split time in the 2011-12 season with Anaheim, Minnesota and New Jersey, appearing in a total of 51 games with four goals and 10 assists for 14 points, while averaging 15:54 of ice time.
Foster was drafted by Calgary in the 2nd round (40th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, but had his rights traded to Atlanta in a 2001 deal. He made his NHL debut with the Thrashers on March 31, 2003 at the New York Rangers.
Foster signed with the Minnesota Wild as a free agent following the 2004-05 NHL lockout and spent the next four seasons with the club. He then made stops in Tampa Bay in 2009-10 and Edmonton in 2010-11 before being traded to Anaheim prior to last season.
