Both goaltender Brian Boucher and defenseman Andreas Lilja were placed on waivers by the Flyers on Wednesday, both as mere formalities to clear their respective paths to the AHL.
Since both players are far removed from their entry-level deals, the new CBA requires that they be placed on waivers and then clear before taking the ice in the minor leagues.
Flyers assistant GM Barry Hanrahan has stated that Lilja's NHL cap hit will not count against the big club for however long he stays with the Phantoms.
