Union to play Harrisburg in June
Chester, Pa. (The Phanatic Magazine) – The Philadelphia Union will travel to Harrisburg to take on their affiliate partner, the Harrisburg City Islanders in an exhibition match on Tuesday, June 12 at Skyline Sports Complex.
The match, which kicks off at 7:00 p.m., will be the third time that these two clubs have played each other since they became official partners in March 2010. The Union earned a 5-3 win in last season’s match-up.
The Union and the Islanders became official partners in March 2010, providing Philadelphia with an option to loan players to Harrisburg for increased playing time. The partnership also resulted in the Union signing starting right back Sheanon Williams and goalkeeper Chase Harrison.
The City Islanders enter 2012 as USL PRO National Division champions and runner up in the USL PRO Championship game. They will begin their 2012 campaign on Friday, April 20 in North Carolina against the Charlotte Eagles.
