Soul ink former Temple C Schonbrunner

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soul have announced the assignment of center Jeremy Schonbrunner for the 2012 season.  This will be Schonbrunner’s first season in the Arena Football League.

“It is always good to bring in local talent that the fans are familiar with – especially one of Jeremy’s caliber,” said Soul head coach Doug Plank. “He has great size and strength and showed the ability to play at different positions during his collegiate career.  That versatility will translate into success and adds depth to our offensive line.”

Philadelphia fans will recognize Schonbrunner from his productive four-year career at Temple University (2008-11). Jeremy made nine starts at center for the Owls, and saw time on both the punt and field goal units.  His spirit and enthusiasm earned him the 2010 Mark Bresani Award, as well as the 2009 Gavin White Local 215 Award for being the most improved non-scholarship player.

A 2007 graduate of Wicomico High School in Salisbury, MD, Schonbrunner earned Honorable Mention Small School All-State selection as a senior, while playing both offensive and defensive tackle.  As team captain, he helped the team to an 11-1 overall record and the state playoffs in 2006.  He also competed in track in field as a senior and finished No. 6 in the state shot put championship.
