Streaking Sixers host Clippers

The Philadelphia 76ers are back in the friendly confines of Wells Fargo Center and will play host to the Los Angeles Clippers tonight.

The 76ers ended an eight-game road losing streak and improved to 2-10 as the visitor this season with last night's 82-77 victory in New Jersey. Jrue Holiday scored 19 points, Spencer Hawes had 18 and Elton Brand added 15 points and only four rebounds for the Sixers, who have won six of eight overall.

"We did just enough to win the game tonight," said Sixers head coach Doug Collins.

Jodie Meeks scored 12 points in the close win. Philadelphia will also welcome Kobe Bryant and the Lakers to town on the residency and is 7-5 in the City of Brotherly Love this season. It is shooting for the 10th win of 2010-11.

Andre Iguodala chipped in eight points, five boards and four assists, and entered the game having posted a double-double in each of the past two games. Philly's bench didn't do much in the win over the Nets, getting two points apiece from Thaddeus Young, Lou Williams and Marreese Speights. Williams entered the night averaging 13.4 points in his past seven games.

Meanwhile, the Clippers are still searching for their first road win of the season (0-10) and will begin a three-game trek tonight through Philadelphia, Detroit and Chicago.

The Clippers have lost three in a row overall and are coming off Sunday's 94-85 setback versus the Orlando Magic from Staples Center. Eric Gordon led all scorers with 28 points and Blake Griffin netted 27 with 16 rebounds for Los Angeles, which has dropped seven of its last nine contests.

"We need other guys to step up," said Clips coach Vinny Del Negro, whose team trailed by as many as 26 points and shot 38 percent for the game.

Gordon leads the team with a career-high 24.5 ppg, while Griffin is the only player in the NBA averaging 20-plus points, 11-plus rebounds and 3.0 apg. Griffin's 18 double-doubles is the second-highest in the NBA and he has recorded a double-double in 12 straight games, matching the second longest double-double streak for the Clippers in the last 24 years.

Injured center Chris Kaman recorded 12 straight double-doubles from Dec. 2, 2007 - Dec. 22, 2007. Kaman missed his 15th game of the season versus the Magic after aggravating his left ankle earlier this month.

The Clippers have not won away from home since March 25, 2010, when they beat Houston by a 99-93 score. They have lost 14 straight road games dating back to last season.

Los Angeles swept the home-and-home series with Philadelphia a year ago, but the Sixers have won 13 of the past 21 meetings in this series. The Clippers have lost 11 of their past 13 games in south Philly.
