Maybe I was a little off-base last week when I called Rodney Harrison a cheater; maybe he is part of a broader picture. (Of course I was labeled a bitter Jets fan, but people ignore evidence right in front of them and pass it off as jealousy.)
The teams are now coming out of the woodwork and out-and-out accusing the Patriots of recording opposing coaches sending in signals during the game. The Lions, Bills and Packers are now joining the fray to get a pound of flesh from Bill Belichick and the Patriots.
"The rule is that no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game," said in a statement from league spokesman Greg Aiello. "Clubs have specifically been reminded in the past that the videotaping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals on the sidelines is prohibited.” More >>

The Jets and Pats have been going back and forth with this stuff since Parcells left NE for NY (which cost the Jets 2 high draft picks). This is just the latest chapter of an affair that includes Mangini walking off with a lot of materials the Patriots considered confidential, and various tampering charges between the two teams. It won't stop until the league puts the foot down HARD on BOTH teams.
If a top team does something like this, what are the other teams doing? Definetly not just praying for God to help them win.
I agree that this all needs to stop on BOTH sides, and I am also willing to put money down that the Pats are not the only team that has video equipment on their sidelines. It's easy to target and topple the top dog...
Goodell better think long and hard about how he deals with this can of worms. Camera use for signal stealing has been used in the NFL for decades. If he comes down hard on Belichek, Belichek could shed light on the whole league and bring down everyone.
Eric Mangini was young and stupid enough to raise a flag that will ultimately result in his career ending. Without Belichek, there is no Mangini. The Jet's suck and Mangini has no solution other than the typical last refuge of a loser which is to call their victors cheaters. The Owners will quietly force Mangini out. This is a big money loser for the NFL.
