The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed running back/kickreturner Reno Mahe to a one-year deal and released safety/kick returner J.R. Reed.
Mahe was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Eagles in 2003 and played in 40 regular season games for Philadelphia over the last four seasons, rushing 47 times for 196 yards and catching 32 passes for 219 yards.
In 2005, he led the NFL with a 12.8 punt return average (21 returns for 269 yards). Last year, Mahe returned 18 punts for 169 yards and a 9.4-yard average.
The 27-year-old Mahe played collegiately at BYU, where he starred as a wide receiver.
