Comcast SportsNet announces coverage of 2012 TD Bank Cycling Championship

PHILADELPHIA – Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia will have comprehensive coverage of the 2012 TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship taking place on Sunday, June 3. Comcast SportsNet’s notable race programming includes a 30-minute race preview “Geared Up” airing on Friday, June 1 at 10:30 p.m., daily coverage in “Daily News Live” and “SportsNite” beginning on Tuesday, May 29 and a one-hour race recap special on Sunday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Race Preview Special

On Friday, June 1 at 10:30 p.m. Comcast SportsNet will air “Geared Up,” a 30 minute program previewing the 2012 TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship. Marshall Harris will host the program, alongside cycling expert John Eustice, which features course highlights and riders to look out for on race day. “Geared Up” will replay on Saturday, June 2 at 1:30 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet and Saturday, June 2 at 4:30 p.m. on The Comcast Network.

Comcast SportsNet will also air daily “Geared Up” features in “SportsNite” beginning on Tuesday, May 29.

Race Day Coverage

On Sunday, June 3rd, Comcast SportsNet will have a complete race recap during “SportsNite” at 6 p.m., followed by a one-hour “TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Champs: Race Recap” special, hosted by John Eustice and Todd Gogulski at 6:30 p.m. Eustice is a Philly-area native and a former U.S. National Cycling Champion, while Gogulski is an analyst for NBC Universal Sports and former professional cyclist who was crowned “King of the Mountain” during the 1991 race for scaling the famed Manayunk Wall.  The “TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Champs: Race Recap” will relive the race from the exciting start to the hold your breath finish, with complete highlights and storylines interwoven throughout the program. Lisa Hillary will have interviews with the winners and will share the sights and sounds of race day.

The “TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Champs: Race Recap” program will replay on Comcast SportsNet on  Sunday, June 3 at 12 a.m.; Tuesday, June 5 at 11 a.m.; and Saturday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. It will also air on The Comcast Network on Monday, June 4 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 9 at 3:30 p.m.  The one-hour program will also be available to Xfinity! On Demand customers beginning on Monday, June 4.

Coverage across the Country

Comcast SportsNet’s family of regional sports networks will air the race in their local markets, reaching nearly 24 million households. The following networks also carry the race special: Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, Comcast SportsNet New England, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet Northwest and CSS.

NBC Sports Network will air the 60 minute race special nationally on Monday, June 4 at 5 p.m.

CSN announces 2011 Phillies coverage

PHILADELPHIA- (March 21, 2011) – The defending National League East Champion Philadelphia Phillies return to Comcast SportsNet for comprehensive coverage before, during and after every game.

Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network will air a total of 106 regular season games, all in high definition, with extensive Opening Day coverage, a weekly magazine show, pre and postgame coverage for every game and exclusive features only available on CSNPhilly.com. Last season, the Phillies scored their 8th straight year of ratings growth on Comcast SportsNet.

New game enhancements for the 2011 Phillies season include the introduction of “Ultra Mo,” the latest HD technology that is capable of showing slow-motion replays of over 2,000 frames per second. Additional new enhancements include an all-new graphics package and score bug which will provide pertinent information using the latest technology in a viewer-friendly format.

Bottalico returns for his fourth year as a Phillies analyst after playing 12 seasons in the major leagues including seven with the Philadelphia Phillies. Newcomer Chris Coste played four seasons with the Phillies, including the 2008 World Series season. Davis, a catcher from Malvern Prep, played seven seasons in the majors.

Completing Comcast SportsNet’s Phillies lineup is the weekly 30-minute feature series Phillies Clubhouse. Phillies Clubhouse illustrates the deep bond between the Phillies and their fans with off-field player profiles, behind-the-scenes stories about fans and the people who make the team run, look into the future of the game with regular minor league updates, and relive great moments in Phillies’ history with the people who made it. Phillies Ratings Roundup

Comcast SportsNet’s Phillies game ratings have climbed 148% since 2002, including the 2010 season, when the Phillies scored an 8.3 average rating (247,000 HH) for live game action, a 16% increase over 2009’s 7.14 rating. In 2010, fans also tuned in to Comcast SportsNet’s “Phillies Postgame Live” in record numbers; the program averaged a 3.7 HH rating (110,000 HHs), up 19% from 2009 also marking the 8th straight year of record growth.

New Flyers reporter at CSN

Philadelphia (Aug. 31, 2010) – Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia has announced changes to its line-up of television sports anchors and reporters. 

Former Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic Capitals reporter Lisa Hillary is relocating to  Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia to serve as the network’s Flyers television  reporter. Hillary assumes the role previously held by John Boruk, who  becomes a full-time anchor and reporter.

After serving as the Capitals television beat reporter for Comcast  SportsNet Mid-Atlantic for three seasons, Hillary joins Comcast SportsNet  Philadelphia to lead their television news coverage of the Flyers. A 
veteran hockey reporter, she joined the network in July 2007 following a  lengthy career as a reporter and anchor with several major television  outlets in Canada, where she spent time covering the NHL for two national  sports networks, The Sports Network (TSN) and The Score. A graduate of  Algonquin College, she also spent time as a news anchor for Ottawa’s  A-Channel.

Boruk, who has served as Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia’s Flyers television  reporter for four seasons, becomes a full-time anchor and reporter for the  network’s daily news shows and Comcast SportsNet signature programs.

CSN apologizes for F-Bomb

Comcast SportsNet apologized for a curse word going over the air at the end of the Villanova-Richmond football game on Saturday.

At the end of the close game, someone other than the announcers was heard ripping Richmond's kicker after he missed a possible game-winning field goal.

The voice then said. "Come on, let’s end this fucking game already.”

“During Comcast SportsNet’s coverage of the Richmond-Villanova college football game on Saturday, our audio signal inadvertently picked up an off-color remark," the company said in a statement. " We apologize to our viewers and the teams and will take appropriate disciplinary action to ensure this does not reoccur.”

CSN to host Cat Call tonight

Comcast SportsNet will air a halftime show during tomorrow night’s Villanova-Duke game with Marshall Harris, CSN basketball analyst John Celestand and Dionte Christmas of Temple.

At the conclusion of the game, CSN will then air a postgame show called “Cat Call.”

Neil Hartman will be filing reports from Boston.

Tip-off is on CBS at 9:57 p.m. Thursday.

City 6 basketball coaches to serve as analysts on Sixers Postgame Live

Comcast SportsNet, the leader in local sports coverage, provides Sixers fans a unique outlook from six highly respected local college basketball coaches during Sixers Postgame Live. “City 6 on Sixers” debuts on Tuesday, February 3 when University of Pennsylvania’s Glen Miller breaks down the Sixers vs. Celtics game. The series continues with Villanova’s Jay Wright; Temple’s Fran Dunphy; Drexel’s Bruiser Flint; Saint Joseph’s Phil Martelli and La Salle’s John Gianinni.

Each coach will be interviewed during that night’s game broadcast to offer their in-game insight. After the game, the coaches will break down the game on “Sixers Postgame Live” only on Comcast SportsNet. Three former City 6 players will be evaluated by their former coaches in Sixers Postgame Live including Memphis Grizzlie Kyle Lowry (Villanova), Orlando Magic’s Jameer Nelson (Saint Joseph’s) and New Orleans Hornet Rasaul Butler (La Salle University).

Barkann in car accident

Radio can be dangerous. Comcast SportsNet’s Michael Barkann was involved in an auto accident Friday morning, evidently while he was on the air with WIP.

Comcast SportsNet confirmed that Barkann was involved in an accident but there’s no word on his condition.

Update: The accident was minor and Barkann was not injured.

Ray Didinger Sr. Dies

The Phanatic Magazine offers our condolences to Hall of Fame scribe Ray Didinger, whose father, Ray Didinger Sr. passed away Thursday night.

Alcohol contributed to Marzano death

Philadelphia native John Marzano was intoxicated when he fell down the stairs and died in his home, the medical examiner's office said Thursday.

Marzano, who went to Temple and spent parts of 10 major league seasons with Boston, Texas and Seattle. died in April at the age of 45.

He had been working for MLC.com, as co-host of a Morning webcast. Before that, Marzano was an analyst Comcast SportsNet's Phillies postgame shows and also appeared on WIP.

The cause of Marzano's death was determined as "postural asphyxia contributed to by blunt trauma and ethanol intoxication."
