Sixers waive three, set to sign F Thomas

PHILADELPHIA - Free-agent forward Malcolm Thomas has agreed to a deal with the Sixers, according to YAHOO! Sports.

The 25-year-old Thomas, a San Diego State product,  played eight games in stints with the San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz in the 2013-14 season. A lanky 6-foot-9 forward, Thomas traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and eventually waived to clear salary space.

He is expected to be a part of the 76ers' 15-man roster on opening night, which is Wednesday in Indiana.

On Saturday night the Sixers also waived three players,  guard Malcolm Lee and forwards Ronald Roberts, Jr., who played his college ball at St. Joseph's, and Drew Gordon.

The Sixers current roster stands at 17 players, 18 once Thomas is officially added. The deadline to cut to 15 is Monday at 5 p.m.
