Missanelli suspended for homphobic comments

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia's ESPN Radio affiliate, The Fanatic 97.5, has suspended evening drive-time host Mike Missanelli for a series of emails containing homophobic comments he sent to a critical listener.
Deadspin.com published the email exchange between Missanelli and the listener on Monday, which can be seen by clicking this link.

The station has confirmed that the email exchange is real and suspended Missanelli on Tuesday.

"We are aware of the email communications between Mike and one of his listeners," the statement read. "This individual has been harassing Mike by email for several years, which is cause for concern, and we are working with Mike to try to identify this person and stop the abuse.

"However, that does not excuse Mike’s conduct. The content of his emails is unacceptable and does not reflect our values as a company. Mike has been suspended and understands that future similar conduct will not be tolerated."

In 2006, Missanelli was fired from WIP after an alleged physical altercation with an on-site producer.
