Chester, Pa. – Philadelphia Union forward Jack McInerney has been voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the month of April.
Tied for the MLS lead in goals scored and game-winning goals, McInerney netted four goals in four matches during the month of April, including a two goal performance in the Union’s 3-2 win over D.C. United on April 21.
Voted the MLS Week 8 Player of the Week after his brace against D.C. United, McInerney also netted goals in ties against the Columbus Crew (4/6) and Toronto FC (4/13). In total, the 20-year-old has scored six goals, including three game-winners, thus far this season. This is his first career Player of the Month honor.
The MLS Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR.
The Union (3-3-2, 11 points) return to action this Saturday when they host the Seattle Sounders at PPL Park at 4:00 p.m. on 6abc.
