The Phillies placed closer Brad Lidge on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with elbow inflammation.
The move comes after Lidge underwent tests earlier this week on his surgically repaired elbow. He had felt some stiffness and was unable to pitch in the latter portion of the week, although the team had hoped he'd be ready to go in the coming days.
Lidge has appeared in just four games this season, allowing one run in 3 1/3 innings while earning one save.
To replace Lidge on the roster, Philadelphia recalled lefty Antonio Bastardo from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
