The NHL fined Flyers center Danny Briere $1,000 on Monday for throwing a punch from the bench at the New York Rangers' Brandon Prust on Sunday.
A few seconds earlier, Prust had leveled Kimmo Timonen, taking several strides and checking him hard into the boards.
Scott Hartnell also took a punch at Prust from the bench, but he was not disciplined.
This season, Briere has been suspended three games -- costing him nearly $23,000 in salary -- and was bypassed for the all-star team even though he is tied for fifth in the NHL with 24 goals.
