Former Temple star Robinson dead at 25

Adrian Robinson Jr
PHILADELPHIA - Former Temple football star Adrian Robinson has died at the age of 25.

Robinson's agent, Brian McLaughlin of Symmetry Reps, confirmed his passing.

"It deeply saddens all of us to share with you that Adrian Robinson Jr. passed away last night at the age of 25," McLaughlin said in a statement. "Adrian was a beloved father, son, brother, friend and teammate. We ask that you please respect his family's privacy during this difficult time, and especially keep his daughter Avery Marie in your prayers. Thank you for all of your support and consideration."

A TMZ report initially claimed Robinson had been killed in a shooting in Harrisburg but that has been refuted and it is now believed the former linebacker committed suicide by hanging on Saturday in Philadelphia.

TMZ spoke with Jeff Moran of the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office who told them, "The manner and cause of death was suicide by hanging."

Robinson was not drafted but signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers and also had stints with the Eagles, Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and Washington Redskins.

He played in 18 career NFL games and accumulated three tackles.

Robinson was traded from Pittsburgh to the Eagles in 2013 for veteran running back Felix Jones but was released at the end of training camp. He was an All-Mid-American Conference selection at Temple and had 13 sacks as a sophomore.
