The Philadelphia Flyers will have to do without the services of defenseman Nicklas Grossman for the next three weeks.
Grossmann suffered what the team called an upper-body injury in the first period of Thursday's 3-2 overtime win against Washington, when checked from behind into the end boards by Caps forward Tom Wilson. He did not return to the contest, and there was no hint at specifying a body part which might be ailing.
The lumbering 29-year-old Swede participated in all but one of Philly's 41 games this season, collecting three goals and eight points and amassing 53 blocked shots -- second-best on the club.
This latest setback looks like it will open the door for either Michael Del Zotto, Carlo Colaiacovo, or both, depending on the game-to-game decisions of head coach Craig Berube.
