PHILADELPHIA –
The Arena Football League and the Philadelphia Soul have released the
2014 regular-season schedule and division alignments. The Soul will
open the regular season on Saturday, March 15 with a re-match of ArenaBowl XXV in Arizona when they travel to face the Rattlers.
The team’s home opener at the Wells Fargo Center will be on Saturday, April 19
with a re-match of the American Conference Championship game against
the Jacksonville Sharks. The team’s nine-game home schedule includes
six Saturdays and three Sundays that includes visits from: Jacksonville,
Iowa, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, San Antonio, Pittsburgh, Cleveland,
Orlando and San Jose.
“We
are excited to face the challenge of making it to the ArenaBowl for the
third consecutive year,” said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. “We will
be tested right out of the gate with an ArenaBowl re-match against
Arizona in Week 1, but our players will look forward to the early test.
We believe that we have the best home-field advantage in the League and
it will be loud in the home opener against Jacksonville in Week 6.”
The
Soul will be in the American Conference and will be placed in the East
Division with the Cleveland Gladiators, Iowa Barnstormers and Pittsburgh
Power. The Back-to-Back American Conference Champions are
Philadelphia’s winningest professional team with a 31-11 over the past
two seasons.
Schedule highlights include:
· Week 1; Re-match of Arena Bowl XXVI against the Arizona Rattlers.
· Week 7 and 16; Face former head coach Mike Hohensee and the Iowa Barnstormers.
· Week 6 vs. Jacksonville; Home Opener on April 19 in re-match of Conference Championship.
· Week 8, 14 and 20 vs. Pittsburgh; “Keystone Collision”, divisional games against in-state rival.
