Embattled former Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno has been diagnosed with a treatable form of lung cancer, according to his son Scott.
Paterno was diagnosed last Saturday,
when he was hospitalized during the Penn State-Nebraska game.
Paterno, 84, was fired
three days earlier in the wake of the child sex abuse case
surrounding former Nittany Lions assistant Jerry Sandusky.
Paterno has
409 career victories as Penn State head coach, the most in Division I
history.
