PHILADELPHIA – The College Football Performance Awards honored senior LB Stephen Johnson (Norristown, Pa.) and PK/P Brandon McManus (Hatfield, Pa.) with Honorable Mention accolades on Sunday.
In Saturday’s 42-0 shutout victory at Ball State, Johnson led the Owls with a career-high 16 tackles, including a career-high eight solos, a career-high eight assists, and a career-high two TFL for a loss of 12 yards. He also had a 10-yard sack against the Cardinals, a career first. The shutout is the first for the Temple defense this fall that has held opponents to a combined 17 points in four wins.
Johnson also earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors from College Sports Madness.
At BSU, McManus made six points after touchdown to extend his consecutive streak to 24 makes. He leads the MAC with a perfect 24-of-24 in PATs. McManus also kicked off seven times for 490 yards, averaging a career-high 70.0 yards per kickoff. He also had a 47-yard punt which landed inside the 20.
This is McManus’ second consecutive weekly honor from the CFP.
