PHILADELPHIA - The preseason accolades continue to come in for Temple University men's senior point guard Will Cummings.
Named to the preseason season second team American Athletic Conference team last week, Cummings was among the players The selected for 2015 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Watch List announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
"I feel honored to be recognized for this award," said Cummings upon hearing of the announcement. "It gives me extra motivation going into the season to work hard and produce for my team."
"It is a great honor as anyone who has been on that list over the years has been of a high caliber, not only as a player, but as a quality person," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. "I think Will fits both of those characteristics very, very well."
Cummings enters the season as the Owls' top returning scorer and ranked sixth in the conference last season with a 16.8 scoring average. He also led Temple in assists (4.6 per game) and steals (1.5 per game), ranking fourth and ninth, respectively, in The American.
The Owls open the 2014-15 season with a home game against American (7:30 p.m./ESPN3).
