Chester, Pa.- After taking a break from game action over the Labor Day holiday, the Philadelphia Union (7-9-9) will face Eastern Conference rival Toronto FC (9-9-6) in an important home-and-home series.
The club will host Toronto on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET on Comcast SportsNet and then travel north of the border on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. ET match on The Comcast Network.
The Union will be without the services of Rais Mbolhi, Carlos Valdes, Michael Lahoud and Zach Pfeffer this week, as the quartet are part of a group of six Union players that have been called up to represent their countries over the next two weeks.
Lahoud will play for Sierra Leone against the Ivory Coast and The Congo on September 6 and 10, respectively. Mbolhi will be in goal as Algeria faces Ethiopia on September 6 and Mali on September 10.
Valdes, meanwhile, will travel to Miami for Colombia’s match against Brazil on September 5 and Pfeffer will join the US U-20 team for a camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina from September 1-10. The U-20 national team will take on Argentina’s U-20 squad on September 9. They could also potentially play two matches against two first division reserve teams but details will be announced in the future.
Brian Brown and Andre Blake will also join Jamaica as they take on Canada in Toronto on September 9. The duo will not miss any Union matches, as they will remain in Toronto following the September 6 match and return to Philadelphia on September 10.
